Since 1985, The Bradford Ladies Invitational Scramble at The Country Club of Jackson has been played by female golfers from all over the Southeast. The Ladies Invitational, known more affectionately as "The Bradford", was named for Nell and JoAnn Bradford. Nell and her mother JoAnn have both been long time advocates of ladies golf at CCJ and around the state of Mississippi. At the wonderful age of 90, Joann was still attending the tournament banquet to visit with old and new friends. Mrs. Bradford died in 2012.
"The Bradford" is one of Mississippi's longest running female only events. Originally played as a ladies 4-ball, the tournament committee soon changed the format to a traditional 2-Day, 2-Lady Scramble. Prior to the course renovation in 2008, the low round record of 59 was posted by Lou Hart & Harriet Cauthen. Known for its wonderful food, great fellowship and superb golf, The Bradford Ladies Invitational Scramble should be on everyone's calendar of golfing events each year.
